Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment (NWE) is one of the pioneers in the international theatrical industry whose initiatives include, in part, venue design and operation, show creation, touring and production as well as education and ancillary services.

 

China

For over 20 years, Nederlander has been an active participant in the fast-growing Chinese cultural industry.  In 2005, under the Chinese Revised Regulations on the Administration of Commercial Performing Arts, NWE created the first foreign joint venture permitted to operate in the Chinese performing arts industry.  NWE has presented 7 Broadway style productions across China including West Side Story, 42nd Street. Elton John and Tim Rice’s AIDA, Fame: The Musical; Luma, Broadway Rox and The Producers.

Nederlander produces original Chinese shows and Chinese language adaptations, including most recently a Mandarin version of Fame: The Musical in partnership with the Beijing Central Academy of Drama and Sound of the Silk Road, which premiered in Xi’an in July 2021.

Cuba

Since 2011, NWE has collaborated with the Cuban Ministry of Culture to produce and present world class productions to Cuban audiences, and manage historical facilities in Havana and elsewhere.  NWE presented a Spanish language adaptation of the Broadway production RENT, the first Broadway musical to be produced and presented in the nation of Cuba in over 50 years, and the subject of the documentary Revolution Rent which recently premiered on HBO Max.  http://rent.nederlanderworld.com

Turkey

NWE co-designed, opened, programmed and produced localized productions for a world-class performing arts center complex at Istanbul's Zorlu Center.  The Zorlu Center for the Performing Arts is comprised of three theatres (2,300, 750 and 300 seats) on 50,000 square meters construction area, making this Istanbul's largest multi-purpose performing arts center. Following its highly-anticipated opening in November 2013, the performing arts center has been host to concerts, dance performances, art exhibitions, auctions and Broadway musicals including Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Jersey Boys, Beauty and the Beast, and Hugh Jackman in Concert.

Taiwan

In March 2012, NWE entered into an agreement to manage and operate two theatres in Taiwan, located in the Hualien Hakka Tulou Buildings Humanities Center. Situated in Hualien City and close to the famed Takoro Gorge visited by millions of visitors each year, the theatres include a world-class 1,350 seat theatre in the heart of the development and a 500-seat dramatic house.
